PEN has developed a rich internship program for late undergrad or early postgrad students. Our internship program supports young talented people to develop their understanding of policy and business issues, nurture their analytical skills to tackle policy and business problems, and benefit from engagement with real-life policy, business strategy and implementation matters. Our internship program starts with an intensive transfer of basic knowledge and skills on the issue the intern will work with, a program tailored to the specific needs of the intern and offered by our more senior associates. Upon being convinced that the intern has grasped sufficient knowledge and skills to engage with the policy and business issue at hand, he/she is assigned to a specific task drawn upon an action agenda designed and mentored by the more senior associate. During the program, interns become part of the common office environment which gives them the opportunity to get learning experiences from ways more senior associates develop and run their daily business. Interns are also normally invited to join staff meetings, meetings with policy and business stakeholders, and participation at events organized by PEN or its partners. This opportunity brings interns under a rich mentorship platform, supports the building of their knowledge and skill capacities, offers opportunities to engage with people working in the sector, strengthens their authority to speak to policy and business stakeholders and equips them with a demanding working attitude.
